Good food at a good price. And perhaps more importantly, new jobs.
The owners of Timber Creek Grill Buffet said that’s the best way to sum up their new Lewiston buffet restaurant. Timber Creek Grill opened last week in the Old Country Buffet building off of Nez Perce Grade.
“We are the original founders of Granny’s Buffet,” said co-owner Greg Klinke. “We opened the store about 13 years ago and sold out to Old Country Buffet in 1999. They went Chapter 11 here a couple years ago and closed a couple hundred stores, so we are picking them up.”
Klinke said they hired 110 people to work at the restaurant including 15 to 20 former Old Country employees who still needed jobs. Klinke owns another Timber Creek Grill Buffet in Spokane. He said it’s a little nerve wracking opening up a new restaurant in this economy.
“We actually waited a good year here and figured well, someday it is going to turn around, but it looks like it’s starting to now,” said Klinke.
The buffet was busy at lunch time last Friday, but Klinke said it was just their soft opening, because they are still working out the kinks that come along with a new restaurant. But he said customers seem to be happy that their brand of “all you can eat” is back in the Valley.
“Lunch is right around $8 or $9 and we have a Senior Delight for people over 55 Monday through Saturday 1:00-3:30 p.m. and that’s $6.29,” said Klinke. “And we have a dinner and lunch card out that you get buy nine and get the 10th one free. So you can’t beat it.”
